About this event

Join us for an open, thoughtful conversation about death in a welcoming and judgment-free space. Death Cafe is a facilitated discussion where people—regardless of background or belief—come together to share perspectives, ask questions, and reflect on the meaning and reality of death. This is not a grief support group or counseling session but rather an opportunity to explore a topic that touches all lives. Tea and cupcakes will be provided.

Death Cafe is an international nonprofit movement that began in the UK with the mission “to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their (finite) lives.” These conversations remove the stigma surrounding the topic of death and dying. This free event will be led by Diane Callahan, a Columbus-based author and co-curator of Spirit and Dust, an exhibition about death and dying. The show is on view at Urban Arts Space in downtown Columbus from October 13–November 14. Spirit and Dust is generously supported through a Spark Grant from the Mellon Foundation.
